ProjektLeder.international vegetable-tanned and saddlery leather is the top choice whenever tensile strength, structure and shape retention matter. It can be cut, stamped, sewn and shaped with real precision. Colour absorbs evenly, which pays off especially when dyeing or oiling. Over time, a warm, natural patina develops — visible proof of an honest material that only gets better with handling.
Depending on your project, you can choose from different finishes. Undyed leather is perfect for colouring or stamping, while pre-dyed grades are ready for immediate use. For outdoor applications, oiled variants offer better resistance to moisture. You also have a choice of look — matte or lightly glossy, fine-grained or rugged — always chosen to match the character of your finished piece.
This leather cuts, bevels, sews and rivets cleanly. Anyone working with leather will appreciate the controlled cut, crisp edges and satisfying feel in the hand. On request, we also offer custom cutting, edge beveling, punching or strip goods for belts and straps — saving you preparation time so you can focus entirely on the finished piece.
Caring for this leather doesn't need to be complicated. A dry cloth is usually enough to remove dust, and a mild soap solution can be used when needed. A light application of neutral leather grease or wax protects the surface, keeps it resilient, and gives it a rich feel. With regular care, you'll be rewarded with an even, warm patina that gives the leather its own personality.
The range of applications is broad. Thinner grades work well for small leather goods, insoles or decorative elements. Medium thicknesses are popular for tack, dog leashes or bag straps, offering stability without feeling stiff. Heavier grades are used for work belts, carrying straps or knife sheaths, where real tensile load comes into play. If you're unsure which thickness suits your project best, we're happy to advise.

Vegetable-tanned leather has held a place in workshops for generations, standing for stability, structure and reliability wherever leather truly needs to perform — and it develops that warm, natural patina that only comes with genuine, honest material.
